Both the Seafarers Building and Masonic House feature as locations in the No Control and Next… Wednesday fashion spreads in the latest 3D (!) Remix Magazine. Plus a sweet feature on our friends at Federation talkin’ bout jeans. Definitely worth a read.
I came across this great video on the web, talking about the dying craft of hand painted signs. As much as possible here in Britomart we like to use that method and carry on the tradition. Below are some cool remnants of old signs, or ghost signs, that can be seen around Britomart, a historic photo of Britomart signs in their original state, and some of our more recent hand painted work.
The ‘Spring into Britomart’ project has included the laying of a temporary 22 x 22 metre lawn in Takutai Square, the main public space in the precinct, and the planting of more than 90 trees as well as grasses in planters.
The new Takutai Lawn will be the focus of a wide range of activities and events over the summer and beyond. The installation will remain in place until work is completed on Takutai Square, to be determined by the construction schedule of the adjacent buildings.
This week’s plantings include 20 four-metre plane trees lining the Te Ara Tahuhu walking street where it runs between the Britomart Transport Centre and Commerce Street. In addition, more than 70 native pohutukawas, puriris and griselinias have been planted around the lawn and interim car park areas. Enjoy.
Britomart Train Station got the green treatment over the weekend, with 1250sqm of grass lining the platforms for a milk commercial. And once filming was over the grass was donated to a local school. Isn’t that nice. Cheers to craigsydnz for the pics.
A beautiful new boutique has just opened in the former Store Room space in Masonic House. (Store Room has moved into the Bucklands Building & doubled in size - giving you twice the goodness)
Michelle Yvette aims to bring a sense of beauty, class and femininity back into the conservative woman’s wardrobe. We think that’s awesome. Learn more about the store here.
